Holes in Evolutionism as Punched by Quran

Holes in Evolutionism as Punched by Quran

The Green Leaves

By: Dr. Engineer Salama Abdelhady

The Holy Quran is the sustainable Miracle of Islam. This Holy Book punches many holes in evolutionism, for example; we can read the following verses where God, Who revealed this Book to His messenger Mohamed, gives the evidences that He is able to resurrect us on the Day of Resurrection:

[36.77-83] Does not man see that We have created him from a sperm? Then lo! He (such man) is an open disputant (as the evolutionists). And he strikes out a likeness (an example of his false claims) for Us and forgets his own creation. Says he: Who will give life to the bones when they are rotten (in the Day of resurrection)? Say (O’ Mohammed): He will give life to them Who brought them into existence at first, and He is cognizant of all creation. He is Who has made for you the fuel (source of energy that burns) from the green tree, so that you can get its fire (energy). Is not He Who created the heavens and the earth able to recreate the like of them? Yea! and He is the Creator (of all), the Knower. His command, when He intends anything, is only to say to it: Be, so it is. Therefore glory be to Him in Whose hand is the kingdom of all things, and to Him you shall be brought back. Any of the written verses represents a separate Hole in Evolutionism. However, we shall consider here the fourth verse only:

[36: 80] He is Who has made for you the fuel (source of energy that burns) from the green trees, so that you can get its fire (energy).

The God states in this verse that He, the Wise , has arranged the design of plants or trees such that it can offer us a source of energy on earth, the green plants. Scientifically, life of all creatures on the earth depends either directly or indirectly on such energy which is prepared by the green plants through a photo-electro-chemical complex process called “the photosynthesis process”. Without such green plant and its process no life can sustain on the earth since our bodies use this energy to move and grow as well as all other creatures. The green color of the trees or plants, as mentioned in this simple and miraculous verse, is the Key, as will be seen, of execution of this complex process.

Can any evolutionist discuss how the nature was able to perform such unique complex process in all green leaves of all plants on the earth? Scientifically, some of the steps in photosynthesis are still not completely understood, the overall photosynthetic equation has been roughly known since the 1800s, but it is still a highly complex process to be completely defined. No one in any laboratory has succeeded to perform such Photosynthesis Process. So, how such dummy nature performed it? How all green leaves of all plants perform the same process? Why do the wild desert plants perform similar process as that done in the sea plants, field plants, trees, palm trees, long leaves, short leaves and any other plant found in any environment? If it is just evolutionism, so why some plants, as sea green plants do not use water only to produce energy or any other spectrum of light? Why were the claimed chaotic evolutions unable to offer different processes?

Simply, the green leave absorbs the peak spectrum of the solar radiation in the range 0.4 – 0.7 µm, absorbs the products of human and animal ex-breath, CO2, and absorbs water vapor from the atmosphere to offer us carbohydrates (or glucose). Such carbohydrates are the sole source of energy for all creatures on earth which is evolved in their bodies by the help of Oxygen. The Oxygen is the gas which is produced by reduction of Carbon dioxide in all plants during the same process. Carbon dioxide is the product of the burning of the glucose in the body of the creatures.

Who integrates the process of such green to produce required energy and Oxygen to all the living creatures? Who adapt the peak solar radiation to fit to such complex process? Who integrates the plant and the animals or humans into a unique system such that the creatures provide the plant with Carbon dioxide to synthesize its energy sources and the plant reduce this carbon dioxide to help in burning the glucose to supply the creatures with the required Oxygen and energy?

Let us review the available knowledge that defines such process. As introduced, such most important process is performed by any green leave to offer our life with ENERGY. Without such energy, we will not be able to move or enjoy our life as another verse of the Quran states this fact:

[56.71-74] Have you ever seen (or investigate) the nar (a source of energy or fire) that is evolved internally (in our bodies), is it you who constructed its tree? We are Who make it in this way to let you enjoying your power(through motion and doing effort) and as reminder (to God’s Wisdom). Then (as a conclusion for that proofs), Glorify with praises the Name of Your Lord, The Most Great.

A simplified scheme describing how energy is transformed in the photosynthetic process or photosynthetic reactions can be approximately presented as follows. The photosynthetic process in plants occurs in small organelles in the plant-green leaves known as chloroplasts that are located inside cells of such leaves. The photosynthetic reactions are traditionally divided into two stages; the "Solar radiation reactions," which consist of electron and proton transfer reactions motivated and acted by solar radiation and the "dark reactions," which consist of the biosynthesis of carbohydrates from CO2. The solar radiation or light reactions occur in a complex membrane system (the photosynthetic membrane) that is made up of protein complexes, electron carriers, and lipid molecules. The photosynthetic membrane is surrounded by water and can be thought of as a two-dimensional surface that defines a closed space, with an inner and outer water phase. A molecule or ion must pass through the photosynthetic membrane to go from the inner space to the outer space. The protein complexes embedded in the photosynthetic membrane have a unique orientation with respect to the inner and outer phase. The asymmetrical arrangement of the protein complexes allows some of the energy released during electron transport to create an electrochemical gradient of protons across the photosynthetic membrane.

Photosynthetic electron transport consists of a series of individual electron transfer steps from one electron carrier to another. The electron carriers are metal ion complexes and aromatic groups. The metal ion complexes and most of the aromatic groups are bound within proteins. Most of the proteins involved in photosynthetic electron transport are composed of numerous polypeptide chains that lace through the membrane, providing a scaffolding for metal ions and aromatic groups. An electron enters a protein complex at a specific site, is transferred within the protein from one carrier to another, and exits the protein at a different site. The protein controls the pathway of electrons between the carriers by determining the location and environment of the metal ion complexes and aromatic groups. By setting the distance between electron carriers and controlling the electronic environment surrounding a metal ion complex or aromatic group, the protein controls pairwise electron transfer reactions. Between proteins, electron transfer is controlled by distance and free energy, as for intraprotein transfer, and by the probability that the two proteins are in close contact. Protein association is controlled by a number of factors, including the structure of the two proteins, their surface electrical and chemical properties and the probability that they collide with one another. Not all electron carriers are bound to proteins. The reduced forms of plastoquinone or ubiquinone and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH) or NADH act as mobile electron carriers operating between protein complexes. For electron transfer to occur, these small molecules must bind to special pockets in the proteins known as binding sites. The binding sites are highly specific and are a critical factor in controlling the rate and pathway of electron transfer.

The solar radiation or light reactions convert energy into several forms. The first step is the conversion of a photon to an excited electronic state of an antenna pigment molecule located in the antenna system. The antenna system consists of hundreds of pigment molecules (mainly chlorophyll or bacteriochlorophyll and carotenoids) that are anchored to proteins within the photosynthetic membrane and serve a specialized protein complex known as a reaction center. The electronic excited state is transferred over the antenna molecules as an exciton. Some excitons are converted back into photons and emitted as fluorescence, some are converted to heat, and some are trapped by a reaction center protein. Excitons trapped by a reaction centre provide the energy for the primary photochemical reaction of photosynthesis - the transfer of an electron from a donor molecule to an acceptor molecule. Both the donor and acceptor molecules are attached to the reaction center protein complex. Once primary charge separation occurs, the subsequent electron transfer reactions are energetically downhill.

In photosynthetic organisms of the green leaves, two different reaction centres known as photosystem II and photosystem I, work concurrently but in series. By the solar radiation or light, photosystem II feeds electrons to photosystem I. The electrons are transferred from photosystem II to the photosystem I by intermediate carriers. The net reaction is the transfer of electrons from a water molecule to NADP+, producing the reduced form, NADPH. In the photosynthetic process, much of the energy initially provided by solar energy is stored as redox free energy (a form of chemical free energy) in NADPH, to be used later in the reduction of carbon. In addition, the electron transfer reactions concentrate protons inside the membrane vesicle and create an electric field across the photosynthetic membrane. In this process the electron transfer reactions convert redox free energy into an electrochemical potential of protons. The energy stored in the proton electrochemical potential is used by a membrane bound protein complex (ATP-Synthase) to covalently attach a phosphate group to adenosine diphosphate (ADP), forming adenosine triphosphate (ATP). Protons pass through the ATP-Synthase protein complex that transforms electrochemical free energy into a type of chemical free energy known as phosphate group-transfer potential (or a high-energy phosphate bond). The energy stored in ATP can be transferred to another molecule by transferring the phosphate group. The net effect of the light reactions is to convert radiant energy into redox free energy in the form of NADPH and phosphate group-transfer energy in the form of ATP. In the solar radiation or light reactions, the transfer of a single electron from water to NADP+ involves about 30 metal ions and 7 aromatic groups. The metal ions include 19 Fe, 5 Mg, 4 Mn, and 1 Cu. The aromatics include quinones, pheophytin, NADPH, tyrosine and a flavoprotein. The NADPH and ATP formed by the solar radiation or light reactions provide the energy for the dark reactions of photosynthesis, known as the Calvin cycle or the photosynthetic carbon reduction cycle. The reduction of atmospheric CO2 to carbohydrate occurs in the aqueous phase of the chloroplast and involves a series of enzymatic reactions. The first step is catalyzed by the protein Rubisco (D-ribulose 1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase), which attaches CO2 to a five-carbon compound. The reaction produces two molecules of a three-carbon compound. Subsequent biochemical reactions involve several enzymes that reduce carbon by hydrogen transfer and rearrange the carbon compounds to synthesize carbohydrates. The carbon reduction cycle involves the transfer and rearrangement of chemical bond energy.

During such simple explanations, that avoids the complex mechanistic of such process, is repeated the words: is made, is transferred, is formed, is derived, is attached, is produced, is arranged, is synthesized, is reduced, is catalyzed, etc. Who is behind this “IS”. Can the dummy nature perform all these IS? How the metal ions include in all green plants 19 Fe, 5 Mg, 4 Mn, and 1 Cu and the aromatics include quinones, pheophytin, NADPH, tyrosine and a flavoprotein?

Now, can any one imagine such small green leaf can perform in its limited size all these genius operations by the Will of a dummy nature? Why all the green plants perform the same operations and these complex reactions in any of its leaves? Why such operation does not depend on the kind of plant, soil, environment, age, etc.? Does the uniqueness of such genius operations in all green plants indicate something or not?

I think the answer is in this verse:

[67.3] He is Who created seven coincident heavens, you see no incongruity in the creation of the Beneficent God; then look again (in the universe), can you see any discord (dissonance)?

Yes, all God’s Creations is Unique? They all indicate One Creator.. A Merciful Creator Who Guides us to His Uniqueness By such Uniqueness in His Creations… A very clear Evidences and Signs of His Mercy and Oneness… One mechanism of operations designed and produced by Him.. Just Him.. And no one up to now can fully know or understand How it is done ..So, Why to argue and Deny His Wisdom… It is the Ignorance and Arrogance of some people called evolutionists… All cannot know such mechanism.. or the life substance.. or the soul.. or how the Camel was created so different from their claimed evolution chain.. or how the bee can design and build her genius air-conditioned house.. or .. or.. or..
